In December 1997, Ryan began flying passenger service for Apple Vacations West with four fresh from the factory Airbus A-320 aircraft. These aircraft are based at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport in the winter months and rotate to the United Kingdom to fly with the UK's JMC-Air during summer months. Passengers are transported to vacation spots in Aruba, The British West Indies, Mexico, Nassau, Jamaica, Santo Domingo, and Venezuela as well as key vacation spots in the United States.

This operation continues today and expansion is planned in the near future.   Check our current operations pages for more information.

The entire fleet of fresh from the factory A320 aircraft is shown here in the original 1997 Air-World livery.    Since that time, the paint schemes have changed greatly as Ryan's partner on this contract has evolved from Air-World, to Flying Colours, to JMC-Air.    They are part of the Thomas Cook group of companies for whom Ryan provides aircrews during the summer vacation season in the United Kingdom.

Ryan and Apple Vacations have a long history dating back to 1992 where Ryan operated various Boeing 737-300/400 aircraft in a off season venture with Aer Lingus of Ireland.

Ryan operated additional aircraft for Apple Vacations including a Boeing 737-400 shown here in the colors of Turkish carrier Pegasus Air.

Ryan International was one of the first supplemental airlines to operate foreign aircraft on its own certificate on seasonal contracts.
